Connecticut Law Tribune Publishes Article on Proposed Changes in Immigration Regulations

Elizabeth Leete and Andrew Wizner, partners in the firm, were both quoted in a recent issue of the Connecticut Law Tribune regarding proposed changes in USCIS regulations.

The article, entitled "Out of America" focuses on the problems foreign citizens who need waivers to obtain immigrant visas and lawful permanent resident status. The January 16, 2012 article quoted both members of the firm regarding the nature of the changes. One U.S. Citizen, Bob Grant, said that “without Elizabeth [Leete], we’d probably still be in Panama.”

The proposed changes in the regulations, which would permit a spouse of a U.S. Citizen to obtain a waiver prior to leaving the United States, rather than applying at a U.S. Consulate abroad, is a welcome change which could potentially help avoid situations where families are separated for months or years.
