Partners Contribute to National Immigration Lawyers Organization

Over the last several months the members of Leete, Kosto & Wizner have made a number of contributions to the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the leading organization of attorneys in the field.

In June, Andrew Wizner, a partner of the firm, was selected to speak on a panel of experts on "A Proactive Approach to Department of Labor Audits." The seminar, which focused on compliance with DOL regulations on H-1B workers, was attended by several hundred attorneys at the 2006 AILA annual conference in San Antonio, Texas. Attorney Wizner, who is the Chair of the Connecticut Chapter of AILA, also co-authored a related chapter in the AILA Immigration and Nationality Law Handbook.

Eric Fleischmann, also a partner of the firm, wrote several sections in the current edition of the AILA Immigration Practice Toolbox. That book, which is published by AILA, is intended to help practitioners handle a wide range of business immigration matters. Attorney Fleischmann's contributions were focused on H-1B visas, adjustment to permanent resident status and portability of permanent workers under the American Competitiveness in the 21st Century Act.

Attorneys Wizner and Eric Fleischmann were also asked to contribute to the 2006 edition of Immigration Practice under NAFTA, an AILA publication which is distributed internationally. The wrote on obtaining L-1 status for multinational transferees from Canada, one of several visa categories in which visa status can be granted at a port of entry along the US-Canadian border.
