No Need to Box Those Old I-9 Forms

President Bush signed a new law on October 30th that permits employers to sign and retain I-9 forms electronically. Employers must retain the employment eligibility verification (I-9) forms for three years from the employee's date of hire or one year from the date of termination, whichever is later. Previously, the law directed employers to store I-9 employment eligibility verification forms on paper, microfilm or microfiche.
